The Begining

Thursday, January 24, 2008

Well... I'm not really sure where to begin. I have started this blog because I'm a college student who will try anything to avoid doing work. I'm 20 years old and a sophomore in college, double majoring in history and international studies and right now I spend 40 minutes a day driving to and from another school so I can learn Russian. Why Russian? I don't know. I like the drive. I like the idea I'm doing something different.  Everyone wants to be different but in today's world that's almost impossible to accomplish. That's why I drive 40 minutes a day to take a class that doesn't even count towards my majors.  I'm not even Russian to be honest. I'm mostly Irish with a little Scottish and Swedish although I am planning on going to Russia next fall so I'm guessing that will come up a lot in this blog. I'm also going to Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic in about 31 days now. The trip goes along with two of my courses this semester about the Holocaust and Judaism. I'm very excited about that trip, but I feel like it is coming way to fast. I really do love to travel. As much as most people hate flying I can't wait to get up in the air. I love the feeling of being so far away from the rest of the world...

So Germany, Poland, Czech Republic in 31 days, Russia next semester, and then I'm hoping to do an internship in Ireland during the spring semester of next year. In the past I've been to Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Australia, and New Zealand. Like I said, I really like traveling. I sound like I probably have a lot of money. Don't be fooled. The only reason I'm traveling so much right now is because I pay the same tuition no matter what. And the reason why I have no money to travel on my own is because of the amount of money I had previously spent on traveling. It's a vicious circle but I'm going to enjoy it while I'm young. I don't know what I want to do when I "grow up" but I'm hoping it involves traveling.

This post was a bit longer than I was expecting it to be. Maybe I'll be back soon with something of substance... or maybe just something with a purpose. We'll see!
