WTF, Spam?

Friday, March 15, 2013

I've seen a lot of people post recently about an increase in spam comments but I never really had a problem with that... until today.  I'm going on my 13th spam comment this morning and it's starting to get annoying.

What's funny is that they are all on the post My Love / Hate Relationship With the Duvet.  I blog about a lot of random stuff but this is by far one of the most random and pointless posts I have.  The most recent spam comment states:

"It's nearly impossible to find educated people in this particular topic, however, you sound like you know what you're talking аbout! Thanks.

Yes.  I am considered the leading scholar on the daily struggles of duvet users.  I get paid lots of money to study it.

This one makes me feel pretty important, too:

"Wοw, this article is fastidiouѕ, my sister is analyzing ѕuch things, thus I am going to inform her."

And half of them just make no sense whatsoever:

"I used to be suggested this website by way of my cousin. I'm now not certain whether or not this post is written via him as no one else understand such special approximately my problem. You're amazing! Thanks!"

Glad I could help your approximate problem!

I can't even figure out what it is about this post that attracts the spammers.

There's also a lot of chatter about the changes at Google and, although no one seems to really know what is going on, you can always find me at BlogLovin. I was using the Feedly app on my phone for a while but I had a lot of issues with it freezing or not reloading so I'm kind of looking forward to relying a little more on BlogLovin anyway.

  1. I get some spam comments here and there and most times on some old posts. I have no idea why this happens.

  2. haha the spam comments always make me chuckle, they make absolutely no sense!!

  3. Haha, spam. Annoying, but sometimes funny. Google is also shutting down Google Reader come July, which is unfortunate as that is what I always use to read posts...

  4. Spam comments have been killing me lately. And they seem to focus comments on only one post instead of spreading them out over multiple posts. They'll spam up a post, I'll close comments on it, and then a few days later they hit another one and I close comments on it. Rinse, wash, repeat.

I'm not sure how the Google Reader changes are going to affect me either, so I also signed up for BlogLovin. Following you on there now!
