Another Weekend Down

Monday, June 16, 2014

This past weekend was the first in months that I didn't have something to do or somewhere to be.  I somehow still found myself running around non-stop all weekend, but it was nothing planned or scheduled so it felt different.

Friday after work I went to my parent's house to help do some work on the basement.  I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here before, but a month or two ago I proposed the idea that they finish the basement and let me squat there for the next year or so.  They've had plans to finish the basement for the last 20 years, but never found strong enough reason or motivation to actually do it.  Now they have.  My dad is as giddy as a child.  He actually said the night before it was getting framed that he couldn't sleep because he was so excited.  They are happy to be able to help me out but will probably be happier a year from now when I'm ready to move out again and they can turn it into the family room that they intended it to be.

I managed to get up and run on Saturday which I was extremely proud of myself for.  I've actually started running in the morning during the work week and it's going pretty well so far.  I only have to get up an hour earlier and I'm able to run/shower/and attempt making my hair presentable for a day of work.  I'm finding it much easier to run in the morning than I would after work so I'm going to try to stick with it.

I spent much of Saturday helping out more at my parents house, but I made sure to get home early enough to have time to lounge outside with Mac.  Getting to watch him play with the other dogs in the building is going to be the biggest thing that I (and he) will miss when we move out.

Sunday was spent pretty much the same way.  I visited my parents and grandparents for father's day, and then spent the afternoon outside with the dog.  I did have to take a quick break to run inside and change after Mac decided to pee on me.  Don't ask.

It was a busy, but still relaxing weekend.  I'm hoping there are many more to come just like it this summer!
